resident welfare association (frequently abbreviated as RWA) is a civic body that represents the interests of the residents of a specific urban or suburban locality in Indian cities. Membership is voluntary, and the leadership is usually elected by fee-paying members. Members who do not pay the voluntary subscription fee in any year may not vote in the general body and other meetings of the association since they would be deemed as having opted out of the membership of the voluntary association. In some localities such association bear the word ‘Development” in their nomenclature such as development and welfare association.

To make best efforts for creating mutual harmony, co-operation and love and affection amongst the residents/members.
To take up the matter with the competent authorities for common interest of the residents for providing and or improving upon common facilities in the area like – Park, drainage, roads, street-lights, scavenging, water and electricity supplies, banking, post office , bus services facilities, community hall and Barat-Ghar, milk booth, health centre, rationing shop, mini-super bazaar, shopping facilities.
To representation to various authorities of Government/Semi-Government or any other agencies on behalf of the members.
To advise its members on various problems of the day to day.
To arrange establish and open libraries, reading rooms for the use of residents/members.
To arrange and organize social and cultural functions from time to time.
To make adequate arrangements for poor, widows and handicapped orphans, old aged and mentally retired persons.
To maintain run and construct Basti Vikas Kendra, Jan Suvidha Parisar, Roads, Foot Path, Anganvari, Libraries etc. with the help of concerned Government authorities for giving the education to the students, socially neglected people and children.
To publish books, magazines and other publications for the promotion, protection and advancement of residents.
To approach the concerned authorities for redressal of grievances of members of society.

All the income earnings, movable, immovable properties of the society shall be solely utilized and applied towards the promotion of its aims and objects only set forth in the Memorandum of Association and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of profit, dividends, bonus in any manner whatsoever to the present or past member of the society or to any persons claiming through any one or more of the present or past member. No member of the society shall have any personal claim on any movable or immovable properties of the society or make any profit whatsoever by virtue of his/her membership

To receive and collect any gift, subscriptions and donations either in cash or in any kind or acquire by and other lawful ways and means and open the same in fulfillment of all or any other aims and objects of the society, the income and property(s) of the society shall be applied solely for promotion and fulfillment of the aims and objects of the society. If any person wants to contribute, donate or give subscription, the same shall be spent towards the promotion of the particular objects only.
To open, found, establish, promote, set up, run, maintain, arrange finance, support and / or help the various community development programs/activities and also construct and develop the community halls, Shochalaya, Charitable Dispensaries, hospitals, libraries and other buildings/institution for use of general public and for welfare or the general public.
To arrange and organize various kinds of Welfare programs e.g. Vocational Education, entertainment, games etc. for children, working men & women.
To do such other things / acts/ activities which are necessary and which may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of the object of the Society.

Guidelines

  • Please submit properly filled membership form and be active member of RWA.
  • Please make your surrounding clean and plant trees near your house and take care of plants to make POCKET-9,  “CLEAN AND GREEN”. Please participate actively in plantation drive in rainy season.
  • Please do not throw garbage in vacant plots/flats and roads also do not throw water on road.
  • Please do not encroach the road in front of your house.
  • Do not waste water while washing the cars/watering plants etc.
  • Owners of the house under construction/renovation are requested to dump building material at appropriate places and not to cause obstruction/inconvenience to other residents. They malba must be removed and not left or dumped in any vacant area/plot.
  • Please provide temporary sanitation arrangements for laborers engaged in construction of house to avoid them defecating, urinating and bathing in open spaces.
  • Please do not damage common property like roads, pavements, street-light poles and fittings, signages etc.
  • Please do not stick bills and posters on signages, boards, walls etc.
  • Please participate actively in all events being organized by RWA and celebrate festivals together.
  • Vehicle being parked on roads should be parked properly without obstruction to traffic/common passage.
  • Please engage garbage collection person and every resident must engage services of garbage disposing personnel. Please do not throw your garbage in empty/vacant plots or green areas. Apart from it being an eye-sore and unhygienic, garbage thrown all over is the bane of pig menace.
  • If you see any unlawful activity in pocket-9 like drinking in park etc. immediately call police rider and protest same collectively.
